After a considerable amount of research on the archives, I read about a Lubriplate spec'd lube for our Braden winches.

Specifically it is a lubricant that is sparing of the bronze gear. From what I have heard the modern heavier differential-type lubricants (e.g. 85-140) we have now are detrimental to the bronze in the winch.

Since I rebuilt my winch, adding new seals and speedy sleeves, I thought I would try this liquid lube first. If leakage becomes a problem then I could always go the corn head grease route.

Turns out it is available and here is the picture of it with its i.d. numbers.

You can buy it from Motion Industries, in individual quarts. Motion Industries has locations all over the U.S. Mine was drop shipped to me from a location in the south.
