I'm no expert but my transfer case levers aren't side by side but in line. Both levers forward gives you 2wd. Back lever to rear of truck gives low gear. Both levers back gives you 4wd. I did notice that if the rear lever wasn't engaging all the way it would put the transfer case into neutral (could be an adjustment issue).
