John,

#1, you can't know it is a 1967 if you are only looking at it from a distance, the front grill, hood and badges on a 1967 are the same from 1965 1/2 to 1967. Luckily for you, all the 1965 1/2 to 1967 bed lengths and models stay the same.

First, and this is the most important! All 1965 1/2 to 1967 W100s and W200s were 8 lug. All of the same era W300s were 6 lug. So if it is a 6 lug truck, then MAYBE it has W300 (1 ton) axles.

Second, while the D100 could be had as both a 114 and a 128 inch wheel base, the W100 in 1965 1/2 to 1967 could only be had as a 114" WB, or 6 1/2 foot bed shortbox. Prior to 1961, and after 1968 you could get a W100 in longbox and shortbox, but not between 1961 and 1968.

If you are close enough to see the rims, count the number of studs, it will be 8. Then open the darn door and check the tag, it will say 216 or 218 as the start of the serial number. If you can't do these things, have the owner do them.

If you find the axles are 6 lug, and the Serial Number starts with 238 or 236, and the frame has not been modified in an obvious post factory way (I can show you factory frame changes, they were VERY serious, lots of rivets and frame doubling), and the frame number matches the door tag, and it is a bed shorter than 9 feet, and the wheelbase is shorter than it is supposed to be I will happily admit that I was wrong. Weird stuff was done by SEG, but I REALLY REALLY doubt this is anything other than a standard W100.

I have TONS of books, which I double checked to make sure everything I wrote was correct. I also have looked at a LOT of trucks, all of which backed up what the books said.

For those who are still confused:

1957-60 W100s could be had as longbox and shortbox

1961-68 W100s could only be had as shortboxes

1969-71 W100s could be had as long and shortboxes

All 1957-71 W200s with regular 2 door cabs were longbeds

1957-58 W100s were all 6 lug
1959-60 W100s were all 8 lug
1961-68 W100s were all 8 lug
1969-71 W100s were all 5 lug

1957-60 W200s were all 6 lug
1961-71 W200s were all 8 lug

1958-68 W300s were all 6 lug
1969-71 W300s were all 8 lug

I hope that clears up the confusion, and John, please check the truck out, get some pictures to share, or E-mail to people, get the door tag numbers, etc, etc. With that info we can put this speculation to rest. But the best course of action is to always assume you have found a boring standard truck, until you have proof you found that rare one off that nobody ever heard of.

Eric
