Town Wagon Rear sliding windows to keep or not to keep

sorry for the dumb question but here goes,
I have been noticing that many of the Town Wagons have there rear sliding windows replaced with one piece of glass.
Is this because they are hard to keep from leaking or beacuse its hard to find and restore the sliding glass seals?
