I always find it funny how the city will threaten to close fire stations, but can still continue to build things they cant afford like a anti-jumper chain link fence across a 1/4 mile bridge for 1.6M or things like 4 fake steel trees in a park for $80k, or the 2% for art. How about 1.5 million per year, per porta potty (2 of them) in the downtown area known as Hobo park. So the build their stuff with money from the general fund and put the FD on the hot seat and say if you citizens want to keep these stations open you will have to approve a levy or tax increase or whatever. So now the city can have their cake and eat it too buy using the FD and PD as their scapegoat.

Did you know that it is illegal for Fire Unions to go on strike?

When the civilians in the Fire Garage (the guys and gals who work on our trucks) got furlough days (days off without pay)because of the economy, Seattle Local 27 Firefighters passed the hat around and collected enough money to compensate them for their days off. Check out the MDA (Jerrys Kids) and see where the greatest contributions are collected from.
Yep, what a rotten bunch.
It just ticks me off when people say "why do we have so many fire engine when there are so few fires", then when there is a fire and the closest engine is 12 minutes away and 4 kids and one adult die in an apartment blaze the same people scream "Where was the fire department! Where does all the tax money I pay go for!"
