I think what it does is the urea bonds with the exhaust particles to help reduce the NOx emissions. I think it traps it all in the CAT or a special area in the exhaust where at a certain time the truck heats it up to burn it off. Maybe Tom can fill us in on the exact process. I've heard Urea tanks last anywhere form 5000 to 15000 miles. I know the tank I saw on the 4500 Dodge kinda reminded me of a windshield washer fluid tank.
