You say you have compression, which would indicate that the valves are opening and closing. You also say that you have got good spark and fuel.

Also, you indicate that it had a recent overhaul.

I would suspect that you have a problem with timing, either ignition timing or valve timing.

The first thing to do would be to do a static check using cylinder #1. remove the spark plug and using your finger to plug the sparkplug hole rotate the engine until you can determine that pressure is building, this ensures that you are on the compression stroke. Then using a rod or screwdriver continue rotating the engine until the piston is at TDC (Top Dead Center). Check to see if the timing mark (may be on the crank pulley on the front or it may be on the flywell on the rear) is aligned with the timing indicator. If it is aligned then your camshaft timing is correct, if not, then your timing belt or chain hasn't been properly installed and you will need to reinstall them correctly.

If the camshaft timing is good then that only leaves the ignition timing. Make sure you have the correct ignition timing sequence and are sure of correct rotation of the distributor. With #1 piston at TDC as indicated before, install the plug wires according to the firing order in the direction that the distributor is rotating.

That should solve your problem, or at least it does 99% of the time.
