I've seen it on an M37 tapped into a port on the carb bowl. I can't remember how stock that truck was. It seems to me that ideally it would be connected upstream of the fuel pump so that it would work even if the carb bowl was empty and the fuel pump was sluggish. The idea is to get the motor started quickly so you don't wear out the battery and starter. On a civilian rig it's easy enough to pour some gas down the carburetor, but that doesn't work on the M37 with it's P-trap style air horn.
