(1) I have a back up saw
(2) Pull the plug , ground it on the block , crank the engine over and check for spark .
(3) Run the saw dry at the end of the season or if you think it is going to sit for a few months .
(4) I do not use the easy start feature , The engine has never fired when I used it .
(5) Three pulls is the max I will do with the engine set to choke . I then pop the setting up one notch and try no more than three pulls in that setting . If necessary I then switch back to the choke.
(6) If it does not start I toss in a carb kit . This was necassary about every 2 to 3 years . Sometimes the problem is a gummed up part or a tiny sliver of wood stuck in one of the small transfer tubes in the carb .
(7) My new saw is harder to start than my old one but now that I have used it for about a year I have it figured out . My old saw would start 1st pull . My new one now starts on the 2nd or third pull when cold and 1st or second when hot .
(8) While trail clearing last Thursday I was forced to do this with one tank of gas . To get the max number of cuts I shut the saw off after every 2 cuts . This forced me to restart about 80 to 100 times . The saw was easy to start each time . My old saw would be very tough or impossible to start .
