I think they're as accurate as anything. All the people who were in the fires are dead now, so all we have are the books that were written years ago. A couple of new books came out this year, but they just re-hashed the old stuff. Big doings in Wallace for the centennial, including a re-creation of the hike Pulaski's crew took from above Lake Elsie down the West Fork Placer Creek.

Yep, I'm glad we didn't have a re-run. Of course nowadays they get on the fires way faster, and even now the timber hasn't grown up enough to fuel such a huge fire. Still a lot of big cedar snags left from before the fire. I was trying to grub out a stump with my cat yesterday and even though the top was all gone, the stump and roots are still sound. That old-growth cedar was good stuff. 100 years in the ground and it still hasn't rotted. Might have to try to burn it out in the fall once the woods are soaked.
