They are tough. About 30 yrs ago my father in law went moose hunting up in BC. There were 3 hunters and a guide and went into a cabin in the mountains on horseback. Early one morning he got up and went outside, about 100' from the cabin to take a leak. He heard a rustling in the brush down below him and finally realized it wes a pair of wolverines. He watched them until the were about 50' from him and he started waving his arms and making noise to scare them away. Wolverines don't scare. When the male was about 30' from him he shot him with his 30-06, the bullet hit him in the throat and literally cut his gut open and that animal kept coming with his guts on the ground and finally died about 10' away.
The female took off. The mounted skin is absolutely beautiful.
The next year he went back to the same area but not to the same cabin. The guide told him that after they left the year before, the female tore the roof open, got into the cabin and basiccally demolished the place.
