I like the electric shut-off as you don't have to get vacuum to open it. Just turn the ign switch, valve opens and gas starts to flow to the regulator, wind over and away she goes. I would start on petrol when the weather is cold, but once the water is warm just start on gas. In a straight gas system you plumb it so you are using water from under the thermostat and let it idle for a minute or so. As long as the water circulates through the regulator OK it will work fine. Too much liquid gas on a cold morning and the regulator can freeze up.
I can check in the shop tomorrow and let you know what model mixer (carb) I used for the 6 cylinder engines if you want. I used the same model for engines from 140 to 265 cubes, just used different springs inside.
