I think Chris is on to something. sounds like the points are too tight or just plain worn out. maybe rubbing clock on points has been dry and as it wears down the points get closer and closer. I just went thru this on my slant 6. I had never put points in it after all the work I did and kinda forgot. 118 is high for a a flathead on compmression. do you have a dwell meter?
