Excessive Heat Watch
Statement as of 3:17 PM CDT on August 07, 2010

... Excessive heat watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon
through Thursday evening...

An excessive heat watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon
through Thursday evening.

* Heat index values are expected to climb back into the 105 to 112
degree range from Monday afternoon through Thursday evening of
next week. Actual high temperatures will be from the mid 90s to
around 100 degrees during the period with high humidity levels.
There is some potential that these conditions may continue
beyond Thursday.

* The cumulative effects of the heat and humidity can result in
conditions which can lead to heat related illnesses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat watch is issued when a prolonged period of high
temperatures and humidity is expected. This will create a
dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are possible.
Begin making preparations now... by making sure your air
conditioning is in good working order or know where to go to stay
cool.

Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the
latest information and possible warnings.
