Well, since your a little apprehensive, and thats ok, maybe you should not embark on a rebuild your self. Its not just the putting on of new parts, but rather precision measuring of engine parts, machine work where needed, sourcing parts, then the actual assembly. It could be daunting !

THis may suit your needs much better. Back in 1995, the Chrysler 251 in my Bombardier seriously needed rebuilding. I simply did not have the time. I went to Jasper Engines, in Indiana for the rebuild. Jasper is a well recognized, long standing company that rebuilds engines and transmissions. At the time I had Jasper do the rebuild, they offered short block rebuild, complete long block rebuild and a complete engine rebuild, absolutely ready to drop in your vehicle and start. If they have the exact same engine as you on the shelf, they will just do a exchange. If you want your own engine back, they will do that also. The engine in my Bombardier was really sick. Even the carb and starter was shot. I went with the complete engine, ready to drop in. My total cost was $2250.00, and I requested my own engine, not a exchange.

I had my engine back in two weeks. Jasper offers a generous warrantee. I never had a problem. My Bombardier is worked hard plowing in the winter. Their rebuild has been great. It always starts and runs. I have nothing but good to say for Jasper.

Jasper has Factory pickup points located all over the US. You deliver the engine to a pickup point and it rides FREE on Jasper trucks to the Plant and FREE on Jasper trucks back to the pickup point, where you pick it up.

Everything I mention above was my experience in 1995. Things may have changed since 95. You will have to check this out for current policies. I am sure prices have changed LOL ! They were most helpful and friendly when I set up everything on the phone. If I did not have the time to do a rebuild, without question, I would go to Jasper.
