Best way it to use an angle block in the drill press to keep thing straight. Then a table type disc sander to make the gasket surface good too. But I suppose a hand held drill and a file would do too.

Any 1/4" pipe fitting will do, saw it off nearly flat then sand down. I guess a helicoil would work, but I've already got pipe taps and brass fittings. And I think the pipe fitting is leak-proofer, the stainless helicoils won't sand to a flat surface.
