Bill had very similar situation cutting wood one time .It became a joke and i took a teasing for a long time > there is a 20 acre wood lot hard maple next door . I ask the lady if i could cut some trees .Now this lady is married to one of the owner of largest construction company in these parts . She said cut all the trees you want . that was enough for me , i grabbed up enough guys to make a good size crew . I cut hard and steady for three weeks I had one man on my big tractor skidding two guys brushing up and had two guys cutting log lengths and other 2 guys cutting tops for fire wood .i cut the entire 2o acres ,leveled it .so i had a man coming to bid on the saw logs 200 000 worth and had a guy to buy the tops 800 per tandem & trailer aprrox 60 loads of tops . all was going well until. i come home saturday morning cops every where at my place . It was ok for the lady to get rid of the trees but her husband took a dim view of it .long story short a deal was made . if i cut all the logs and tops into fire wood i would not be charged . With little choice in the matter my crew cut 3 weeks steady and the owner (her husband )brought a loader and a fleet of dump trucks to take it a way . I was a little embarrassed to say the least so after that i put every thing in writing ~ copey
