You don't want to remove the sludge from the pan. That catches and holds particles after the engine is off. You have a partial filtering system, so the sludge layer is needed. If you're worried about other areas of the engine, once it's back in the truck and your running it, use a detergent oil to clean varnish/carbon deposits from the engine.
