MU2 rebuild question, worm shaft key

I am replacing all the seals and blasting the appropriate parts, and have the winch completely apart... except for the small worm shaft key.
It is in very tight! I have tried persuasion by hitting it with a drift to no avail.
I thought I would next try the freeze trick with the computer dust spray. If that does not work weld on a nut for a slide hammer?
