From having only one 'lug' turned to 'locked'. The pot medal hubs are pretty weak. I suspect that the steel band was added as the last gasp of a dying producer, after other folks started selling a better design.
I doubt if they told anybody about the diameter issue. I suppose you would by a set, go merrily out to your truck and bolt them on. Only later did you find that you couldn't get the wheel off, at which point the maker claimed "it's been too long, out of warranty".
So far as fitting something else, I don't think there is another hub with anywhere near the same specs. Same spline dia and length and count, same bolt circle, bigger Budd pattern? 6 hole Budd W-1-2-300? But weren't they all Dana?
