(1) change the oil
(2) clean out the air cleaner
(3)remove each spark plug and sray in some fogging oil
(4) turn it over by hand
(5) look for chewed up wires and replace or repair each ,one at a time
(6) fill up the rad
(7) at this point you may consider pouring a tiny amount of gas down the carb and see if it will fire but some folks will do a few more things before even trying to fire up the engine
If you do it right the engine will not get additional damage from the first fire up . Dry bearings , dry cylinders and sucking things down the carb are to be avoided .
