A truly incredible event happened Saturday.I have this picture of my family back in August of '57. As I was 6mo old, it is the only memory I have my dad's 53' Servi- Car. Sister and brother remember it, but I was too young.
Dad was partners in a Texaco station with Ralph. The Servi-Car was their parts chaser."R and J Texaco" was the business name, painted on the back.
Fast forward 53yrs, to this past Saturday. I talked myself into stopping at the local High School car show. I came upon a 3 wheeler and questioned the lady owner as to it's possibly "local" history. She told me it had been in her family since the early '60s. Prior to that, they knew little other than the "R and J Texaco" painted on the rear.
Wow! Imagine the flood of emotions that have overwhelmed me. Dad passed in '05, but I did go get my 83yo mother. She immedietly recognized it, without me even pointing it out.
I'd love to tell you I was able to buy it on the spot, but I can't. At least the owners know how to get ahold of me if they ever decide to sell.
