My 96 Dodge van did that once. It was my fault bcause I was beating on it and confused the electronics. I was driving through a new construction subdivision and back up very fast. Thats when I learned the speedo worked in reverse. so after that driving forward, whenever I took my foot off the gas it would downshift. It reset itself after I shut the truck off and restarted it.
