The way I have answered that kind of question is by saying the Power Wagon has a steel topped cab and the M37 has a soft top in most cases. The PW has a piano hinge down the middle of the hood and the M hood is one piece, hinging at the firewall.
The M is shorter and rides better, the PW is longer and rides like it has square wheels. The M looks military, not only in general look, but also its instrumentation and underhood wiring. The PW looks more civilian-like with its rounded cab.
The Power Wagon will say that in chrome letters on the hood and the M will not. The M looks more boxy than the PW.
Just some thoughts. Don't feel bad. In the 70's when I was just learning, I was not sure of the differences between the PW, the M, and the WWII stuff. I never got to see more than one in the same place at a time. Also, it was typically months between sitings, and I had no pictures.
