when my hands heal from the burn s i am repairing a welded frame > someone welded the shock mount to the frame > technically the truck is scrap . way to much heat the morons welded down (by the way i cut off the old welds ) I have sawed not cut out 4 inches of the frame > i have some frame off another i carefully cut all pieces to fit > this includes all frame measurements and most important a diagonal measurement > I doubt i will weld it myself > i have a younger friend who can still see weld it > the pep is all ground to fit like this >< two passes, bottom to top rods are E 7014 3/32 first passes just penetrate the gap > second pass a weave > amperage starts at 75 and stepped down once the weld is started to 65 amp a c > grind weld smooth then fish plate the inside like this /----\ WELD UP on the fish plate angles from the bottoms ! the inner fish plate fits between the upper frame rails on the inside do not weld it to the ] top or bottom of the rails ,only the ends of the plate you may bolt the fish plate instead of welding if your not a good welder On a double frame it easier to make the repair and offset the joints for strength > no slag or crap is acceptable in the weld no second chances once you put the stick to the metal but the fit is the key and watch the heat `Copey
