The HMMWV combat rims are pretty fragile. Many of the stock ones are bent when you get them, and the metal is rather thin compared to the traditional Power Wagon wheels. Rust is also a problem with these wheels as they trap water easily between the wheel halves where the O-Ring goes. The HMMWV tires are also low pressure tires. The manual calls for 20 PSI and 22 PSI rear, with a maximum of 30 PSI.

The way these wheels are made is quite different from the familiar Power Wagon. It does NOT have a seperate center welded/riveted in place.

The HMMWV wheels are also intended to be used with runflats (magnesium), which act as bead locks during extreme off-road usage. With the low pressure these tires operate at, I wouldn't do more than trail riding without the runflats.

Due to the higher bead loading of a radial tire, the radial HMMWV wheels are a bit stronger, but the primary difference is two extra bolts holding the rim on and a rubber, one-piece runflat.

I have no info on the civilian Hummer wheels though, some of which I understand are one-piece like conventional car tires. Military HMMWV tires may not work on these due to their very thick, stiff beads.
