My first vehicle was a 1952 IH L-112 pickup (the famed Leventy-two). It was a 1/2 ton 4x2, and had a floor four speed with such a low 1st gear that you could walk faster than the truck would run WOT. I was in high school, and used the truck mainly for making money, hauling barkdust and gravel for neighbors, and puling out small stumps and such. My dates hated it. A drunk driver kamakazied it while it was parked. Pretty spectacular wreck. Hit it with a Nova. The 327 and auto was ripped out of the front end of the Nova and wound up under its rear axle. The bed on my truck was partially knocked off and the frame slightly bent. I did not have the means to fix it, so it went to IHC heaven.
