Split rims Vs. Radial

I have discovered that Les Schwab can manufacture a 16" radial rim to fit the power wagon. It is available in most any width. I was thinking 10" wide offset 6" beyond the fender 6" underneath. These can be built for about $200 each. After that it is a simple matter of mounting any radial tire on it. 36" buckshots or swampers. The question is whether to spend the money on these or keep my old rims and mount a 36" radial tire on them with the radial tube. I understand that doing it this way adds about $65 for each radial tube. I have been told that these stock rims are only 5" wide but another person told me that with the tube and split rim setup it is possible to air down more than radial and that they will also stay on the rim better even though they are so narrow. Then there is also the safety factor with split rims. Which route should I take? I want make the right decision as this setup will last for years. Any comments?
Thanks for the advice
Drew
