As with any engine, it's life depends on how well it was maintained, driving conditions, how long it's sits between use etc.. I would think a person could do better than 25,000 by using good oil and maintaining it regularly. Biggest problem today for killing these engines is the no lead gas. A mechanic today would see these engines dying before their time because of it. When you rebuild, if you don't upgrade the cast iron insert seats to hardened seats, values and pistons, your not going to get the life that these engines are capable of delievering.
