the problem with imported knockoffs is that you don't know about thier metallurgy.
Did Braden use cast iron? cast steel? malleable iron? Did the tiawanese use the lower grade but make up for it with more gussets and heavier castings ? (might be just fine if they did,there are chinese engineers you know)
how to tell- drill a small hole with a sharp bit- need not be deep, just enough to get some chips.
steel will make long , stringy chips
iron makes gritty dust
malleable makes dust with small chips (about 50/50)
anybody out there care to experiment ?
