Too foot sore and wound-up last night after pounding the pavement at Aberdeen to sleep; I watched a Netflix movie called "Play Dirty". 1968, Michael Caine. Somewhat standard theme of a British "Dirty Dozen" raiding Rommel's fuel depot in the Desert War. What caught my eye was the fact that Dodge M-37's were turned into fairly credible Long Range Desert Group vehicles.
The windshield was removed completely and the chassis was stripped to the doors. To make it look like a German vehicle, the grill was modified and a Mercedes hood ornament was affixed to the hood. Painted desert sand and fully equipped with marsden matting, fuel and water cans, spare tires, etc.they looked pretty good. If you can stand the sight of a truly spectacular demolition of a perfectly good M37, it is instructive to watch what happens to a heavily laden M37 when it snaps a winch cable and takes a wild ride backwards down a steep, steep slope. M37's have racked up a pretty impressive filmography over the years.
May they continue to grace the screen.
