Maybe somebody near you has a used motor or a core motor?

You are going to need guides, and new valves too. Plus, sledge hammering the pistons out is not easy on the block. And, even after machining, you may still have rusty bores- cast iron is porous, rust goes deep. Sleeving means boring twice, once before and once after. All those costs add up. Better to use a nearly running core motor. And there is always the chance that the dore may have a good crank, or maybe need rings but no bore job....
