The Pitman Arm I used is the one that was on the M when I got it, I installed it on the Reverse Saginaw PS Box, and that was as for inward on the splines it would go, full Nut thread engagement.

I'm not sure I'm seeing what you are saying, the arm does look to be a bit longer than what yours is. I've got to pull the dust boot off the link and make sure I have no damage there. It's possible the arm was bent some when I broke the spring pack bolt. To keep the wheels straight the wheel was turned full left and may have caused dome deformation.
