One other thing to remember with the serial numbers. The last series of WC-6's started with serial # 8666301 and ended with # 8676719. They only made 1780 command cars during that time but the serial # spread is 10,418. A WC 4, 7, 8, and 9 are all in the same serial number range. By the numbers I have I can see production of 7969 vehicles so where the remaining serial numbers went, who knows.

From what I've been told, the 1/2 tons were made up untill midyear in 1942. I have a T215 WC40 closed cab that has the original brass date of delivery tag on the bed. It is unstamped so I can't help you there.

In the info I have, The only 1/2 tons built in 1942 were some of the WC 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 41, 42, 43, 47, 48, 49, and 50. It seems odd to me on this as a WC-47 is the same truck as a VC 3 and 4 closed cab 4x4 that had the civy fenders and front end. Why would they make that when they were allready making the WC closed cabs is beyond me. Might just be bad info but it's in there. The WC-49 is a 2wd panel with civy front end and I can understand that one.

Never say never with ANYTHING Dodge.
