Pulsation is caused by a shoe moving in and out and pushing back on the wheel cylinder. Not uncommon at lower peddle pressure then gone with firm pressure on the peddle. You may have a shoe that is slightly hung up or not adjusted correctly. I know when I adjust my brakes there is always a slight high spot on the drum as shown by a slight scraping sound at one point in the tires rotation. With very light pressure you may be feeling a high spot. Take the time and adjust your brakes and see what happens.

An take care of that leaky master cylinder. I do not want to read in the paper that an M37 went off the edge of a logging road and the cause was that idiot behind the wheel did not fix a known brake master cylinder problem. Worse yet you could hurt someone else and their lawyer will take everything you thought you had simply because you did not do your "Due Diligence" when you knew you had a brake problem.
