To be honest, you're making a big mistake selling it because this truck is miles ahead of the new one in virtually every department. If it was a 98 5speed 4x4....big bucks & sold within minutes.
The sad news is that the 2wd just doesn't have the same following & the 97 just not in nearly as big of demand without the 4 doors & the seats sit too high, seems to be the general consensus. The truck you have....keep it. You'll be hard pressed getting over $10K for it & it's so far superior to a third gen in power, longevity, fuel economy....the list is long & trust me...if you think I'm wrong..just go on any Diesel forum & take a poll. One new $3000 set of injectors in a 3rd Gen will make most guys believers.
Just keep it & enjoy it. The only advantage to the new one really is that you can get it with 4 doors but is that worth triple for an inferior truck?
Me says no.
