Honestly? It's overkill for a 50 year old flat head engine.

Convential oils have narrowed the quality gap that once existed, and unless you're taking advantage of long drain intervals, turbo charging, high revving or extremely cold starts a synthetic just isn't worth the extra money.

I run Rotella 15W-40 in my Ford flatheads and change it once a year. I run conventional oils out to around 7000 (mostly highway) miles in my Dodge pickup, my Hyundai Elantra and my Subaru Outback.

You're better off using M1 in an engine that can take advantage of it.
