Since STPs oil molecules are larger and heavier than conventional or synthetic oil’s, it has to be added two ways – heat the oil, then mix in STP and add the mixture to an engine or add it to an engine running at fast idle at operating temperature. If you don’t, it results in the “agglomerate tar” you mentioned. As far as anti-wear properties, it’s second to none. As far as I’m concerned, the more “waiting to agglomerate into tar” the better in the sludge layer.
