Saprky, the NP540's came with different input shaft lengths depending on the truck they came from. First measure against the NP435 and insure they are the same. If they are you can use the NP435 with a clutch disc change to 23 spline. This trans is a better trans for daily driving as it shifts easier.

If you keep the NP 540 you will have better pulling up hill as it splits the 3-4-5 gears better. Either trans will require a new plate on the tranny side to mount the shifter levers.
