It depends on how much you are going to use it. Older Snap on stuff is OK, but I have a newer plasma cutter from them and it was a waste of money. Getting parts is a chore, (tips, etc.)I feel the best thing going now is Lincoln. I have a Milermatic 250 from the early 80's and you can't kill it. The new ones blow curcuit boards on a regular basis. My other one is a lincoln (cant remember the model) and it is bullet proof as well. Just bought it last year. Runs continous all day and no problems, tips and other parts are available everywhere. Bear in mind they are both heavey duty production machines. That might not be what you want. Bruce up in Canada could probably give the best answer here....he helped me out big time on a complex manifold welding issue.
