First number 1 thing as Chris mentioned is Patience. We all have to deal with patience and sometimes burnout. But in the end you will have a beautiful PW.

May I suggest a few things. Inventory everything, I mean everything and condition. Now you really know what your dealing with. Then its decision time. Do you want a beautiful restored PW or a more as is user.
This decision will shape and focus on the job ahead. Sheet metal can be repaired by cutting out the rust and welding in new....or buy good sheet metal if you can find it. Which ever way you go, safety items such as steering, suspension and brakes need to be totally taken down and rebuilt. Click on my link below for some "How To pictorials" on PW rebuilding.
