We´ve all had a few encounters.
The forcast called for 6 meter sets. I had just dropped my son off at the airport and headed to Boca Barranca. Looked at fourth point and it was too big. My buddy tried to paddle out and the first wave landed on his head planting him to the bottom of the ocean and all three of his fins thru the top of his board. So I paddled out at Caldera. After about 45 mins. of surfing I saw two nobs sticking like two feet apart out of the water about twenty feet away and then submerge. I said to my self öh sh!!!, before I knew it a crocodiles head bobbed up six in. from my leg hanging off my surfboard. Big slanted yellow eye looking at me. I laid down on my bd. and paddled(slowly but firmly) out to sea and around to the beach as she was between me and the beach. As I paddle away I could see it´s body dissappear into the depths with it´s little foreamrs just hanging there, reminded me of trex standing up. I get to the beach and Macho Estrada was sitting on the rocks and I said ¨Macho a twenty ft. croc.( just guessing she was 20`ft. by the size of her head) just floated up next to me¨ To which he responded(in spanish)¨Yea right Ed, what you been smoking. I gave him the finger and said you paddle out if you don´t believe me and walked off. Well that same day she got caught in the giant shore break and it knocked the croc out and launched it up on the beach. The locals tied it up and the newspaper came down and took pics. Well the next day I was having my morning yodo(coffee) and I grabbed the paper and low and behold on the front pg. was the croc. The caption read waves of six meters busted the new jetty and threw a six meter(20ft.) croc. up on the beach. I glance up and see Macho coming down the street in his Range Rover so I grabbed the paper rolled it up ran out and flagged him down passing him the rolled up paper and said ¨Smoke this.¨
