I have used the method as outlined in the M37 Army TM-9-8030 for many years. Its amazing how well it works. I cleaned out a totally plugged Model A Radiator and a badly blocked radiator on my Bombardier.

Reference the picture scanned from TM 9-8030

I do make a slight change in the M37 procedure. I do not run a hose off the top of the radiator. I leave the radiator cap OFF. This gives the quickest dump of the crud. You MUST also just use short bursts of the air so as not to hurt the radiator.
I set my compressor regulator to 80 psi. Turn on the water and let the radiator fill and start over flowing. Then give just a 1 second shot of air !!!! You better have your fowl weather gear on as the water will come out of the radiator up as high as 15 feet, in one huge column. All the death and pestilence in the radiator will start to come out with the water. It can be real messy. Keep doing this until you no longer get crud and just clear water.

The same method is also outlined in the TM for cleaning death and pestilence out of a block. Feed the water/air into the T Stat housing with the T Stat removed. Remove the other hose from the block and have at it. Its truly amazing what comes out.

I figure if this blows the radiator.....well now is good time to find it was that bad.
