Regulars will have seen/read my posts here regarding my experience with old tires plenty of times now. The pic is the end result of running old tires that still had lots of tread on them. BFG Radial T/As on my 1955 Pontiac Chieftain. I was traveling about ~55 mph(trooper estimated 40 or something like that though I know I was going faster than that). I stabbed the brakes as a pickup pulling a large horse trailer pulled onto the road ahead of me. I was sideways in an instant after the passenger rear tire blew out. Absolutely no time to do anything but realize that I was along for the ride, a ride which ended up with me upside down and my car of 16 years never to be driven again.
