I know there are some good carpenters here, and I can't seem to find the answer on the Internet anywhere, so thought I'd ask here. I'm building a small shed, about 25 feet long, with a dog-leg bend in it. The bend is an irregular angle slightly less than 30 degrees, made to fit against an existing retaining wall. The shed roof slopes back towards the hillside at 3 in 12 pitch. The shed extends out about 6 feet from the retaining wall.

The question is how to cut the angles on the jack rafters for the hip roof at the dog-leg. I know rafter squares have tables on them, but only for standard angles of the walls meeting. Even so, I've never used the tables. I've found some "how-tos" in the Internet but they all assume the walls under the roof meet at right angles. Obviously the angles I need to cut at the ends of the jack rafters are compound, but I have no idea how to calculate what they should be. I'm inclined to just hold one up, mark it so it looks about right, keep cutting and trimming it until it fits well enough, and then copy those angles for the others, but surely there's a better way.
