My Uncles 50 Chrysler Windsor with the flat 6 barely even turns over before it starts when its warm. Don't have to touch the gas, just hit the key and it's purring.

My Dakota with the 2-bbl carb was the same way. Grumpy when cold but once it was warmed up you barely had to touch the key to start it, let alone the gas.

My Desoto was the same way till I installed the Pertronics conversion in it. Now it's closer to what you describe. It actually starts better cold than warm.
