Marty, the first original driver's side bracket I ever saw was at the VPW rally years ago. It was bronze and on a '48, but I am not sure if it came from an earlier truck or not.

also, what about the sheet metal bracket that transitions from the cast bracket to the tailight bucket? I have only one spare driver's side complete sheetmetal license plate bracket that I do not want to cut apart. Don't the sheetmetal brackets for the passenger side have matching formed features as the license plate bracket on the driver's side? What can be done about reproducing these as well? I do not think a simple bent sheetmetal bracket would look quite right if it was not formed with a die set to match the unique bends in the license plate bracket.

Otherwise, it sounds like the local aluminum and bronze foundry local to me would not be any better than your bronze casting source.
