i think you can put in neutral and let the motor grenade. unless the defect causes the tranny not to shift. not likely. it is an electric problem. i believe that they will find that some handheld gadget we carry today causes interference with the computer. it it not a mechanical problem. i believe the pedal locking causes panic and before the driver can react, the accident happens. or if you believe the conspiracy theory, the govt is hyping toyotas problems because they own gm.
