Couple of things come to mind - clutch plate maybe in backwards, so it won't release - thrust bearing maybe seated wrong - if it rotated as you put the box in it may be missing contact with the fork - have you tried it with almost all the free-play out of the pedal - have you looked under the truck while someone presses the pedal down to see if the plate is free?
