'69 Oldsmobile had thermostatic vacuum-controlled AC as well as heat. Worked fine at the time, but then so did all the vacuum-powered smog stuff from the '70s and early '80s... until about 20 years went by and the various diaphragms and hoses started cracking, coming loose and leaking and there was basically no hope of troubleshooting it. One good thing about computerized engine controls is they got rid of that rat's nest of vacuum plumbing.
